We bake the world a better place

Our story started in 1991 when we decide to leave the little town of Pietermaritzburg and move to Durban. We always loved the countryside, so we decided to bring a little country to the middle of the city. There was a lot going on in the Durban CBD at that time and it was definitely the heart of the city but it was lacking a place where you could relax with a cup of coffee and an indulgent treat.

Once we found the perfect spot along the well known Albert Street, we got to work setting up our countryside dream and perfecting all things delicious.

Since then, together with our amazing team of bakers and confectioners and many wonderful family members, Country Bake grew to become a household name.

As we expanded, we opened a satellite store, Slices, in the Pavillion and catered for various corporate companies.

Over time the Durban CBD changed and after many years of baking cakes and customers becoming part of the family, we decided to close the doors of our Albert Street branch.

A change was needed and a few years later we re-opened on Musgrave Road with a fresh new look and the same distinguished taste. The store is situated in a heritage building, making it the oldest coffee shop building in Durban!

At Country Bake, we continue to bring you the old classics like out legendary Pyramid cake, while continuously innovating and perfecting, hopefully for many more years to come.
